It has come to my attention that a timber Sabre is being built with the floor battens being deleted and closed cell foam glued to the whole of the cockpit floor. The finished laminate is to be fibre glassed -at least in the cockpit area.

This form of construction is NOT permitted under the Sabre Construction and Fitting Out notes.

Sabres may be timber, fibreglass or composite construction.

Composite construction comprises a fibreglass hull built in accordance with the class rules and finished with a timber deck.

The method of construction outlined above does not comply with any rules of the Sabre Class and I have never given approval for this technique.
