Maroochy Sailing Club

Maroochy is up and running for 2010 – 2011. We have 7 Sabres racked up in our Club Sabre Storage bay.

We had 5 Sabres on the water last weekend for the Long Course races, but very little sailing. An extremely light breeze and a strong flooding tide meant we spent most of the day going backwards rather than forwards. John found a whiff of a breeze at the right time in the first race to be the only Sabre to finish, but none of us managed to even start in the second race. The Lasers fared slightly better, but they spent a lot of time drifting also.
So much for all our pre-race planning, comparing mast rakes, tensions, sail shapes etc. It just didn’t happen. Long paddle back to the island against the tide!!!!

Fleet was John L, Peter Mc, Peter B, Ilan, and Gard. Bill Turner has decided to hang up his sailing boots, but we will get someone else into the Club Sabres. Just need a bit of wind!!!!
