Lindisfarne
has a group of young sailors just starting in
Sabres.
Here's
a few tips that might be useful. Click
here. |
| > |
Simon's
boat awaits paint and fitting out . According
to Peter he will be someone to watch out for .
Philip is still at the wiring panels together
stage. Hopefully he'll be finished in time for
summer.
Arie
sailed a borrowed Sabre for the last race for
the season and really enjoyed the fleet racing.
Looks like Dad will be busy building over the
winter. Looks like we'll have over a dozen by
start of next season. |

If
you are keen to learn techniques for not losing
places on the reaches check
this out. |

Yes
you saw it here first -Peter of "Cool Bananas"
fame has threatened to build a new Sabre and this
time down to minimum weight. After initially claiming
he only wanted to be middle of the fleet he has
contracted the cometitive bug and by all accounts
he has it bad.
Watch
out for Peter . Once he sets his mind to the job
he will turn out a beaut boat and challenge us
all. Don't be surprised if he casually wanders
up and turns the conversation to -"Now what's
the best way to build a fast Sabre?" |

Four
young sailors took to the race course for the
first time on Sunday in Sabre dinghies.Tahlia
and Jake have just purchased "Gammon"
and "Excalibur" respectively.Barry and
David took out the club boats "Sheer Delight
and "Mac 11".The tricky and gusty winds
tested them all . Full marks to them all for the
courage they showed in sailing the course.
David
was probably best new junior on the day. Us oldies
can't work out how someone barely 3 feet high
and less than 40 kilos can sail so well. Ah well
such are the skills of youth these days.
With a fleet of 9 sailing
there was a competitive spot for all in the fleet.
Daniel showed the oldies how to pick the shifts
in the first race with an out right win.
Who knows what he might have achieved if he had
sailked all the races in the recent state titles. |

13th of March. 14 boats entered, winds ranged
from light and variable to 25 knots. Early leader
was George Fish in "Precious Pumpkin".
Strong breezes on the second day saw Chris Kiel
and Matt Westland take the lead. The last race
on Monday saw Chris and Matt battle it our with
both boats leading at different stages. Matt held
Chris off on the last leg to win the Championship.
