HEAD OF THE RIVER

21 September 2012

SUNDAY 11/03/12

Looks like a great weekend of River Sailing planned for the 10th and 11th of March, those who have participated in this weekend before, have come home and talked about the fun time they had.   The now famous and coveted River Rat Trophies are up for grabs again this year, why not have a relaxing weekend, with the fun of river sailing to make it a little bit more challenging.

Results

Well done to everyone who sailed in these titles, after reading Peter Brodie’s report it looks like the River Rat Title was challenging in it’s light to moderate easterly breeze and strong run-out tide for the afternoon races. Congratulations to John Campbell winning all three races to take out the title, and to John Ladewig on his second placing and Sue Hextell in third place. Congratulations also to the handicap placegetters Ilan Schofield first, Peter Brodie second and Rob Jackson third.

The head of the river had twenty-six starters, seven of them being sabres, “testing ¬†conditions” “exhilarating rides” “several capsizes” and “minor boat damage” is part of Peter Brodie’s “descriptive report” so sounds like an “interesting” time was had by all. Congratulations again goes to John Campbell for winning the Head of the River Trophy for the first boat of any class to complete their course, well sailed John you certainly blitzed the weekend. Congratulations also to Keith Wilson on his fourth overall and Ilan Schofield fifth and Sue Hextell sixth, it is very pleasing to see four sabres in the top six places, I am sure those who competed had a “Gr8” weekend on and off the water and came home with a wealth of knowledge about river sailing.
