Perth Dinghy Sailing Club Opening Day 2015/2016

19 October 2015
Yesterday Perth Dinghy Sailing Club held their Opening Day. We had 14 sailors on the water which made it the biggest fleet in attendance. After the official opening ceremony concluded the racing got underway in light to medium winds. A visiting Sabre sailor capsized on the start line, getting his race off to a good start! Ashley Hood took the lead and easily won the race, even though he had the wrong class course sheet taped to his boat.

Carl Girolamo finished second and newcomer Tony Carr finished third. Thanks to visiting sailors from EFYC – Pete Coop, Dave Quinn and Bruce Moorman for attending along with Chris Holyday from Maylands.

There could have been two more Sabres on the water but these sailors considered the free drinks and afternoon tea a much better option.

After the race it was great to see all the families coming down for a drink and a bite to eat.
Great weather and great hospitality made it a perfect opening day.
