Walpole In The Trees Regatta Is On Again

The Walpole Yacht Club In The Trees Regatta is on again for 2016!

The town of Walpole on the south coast of Western Australia is gearing up for yet another great sailing event – Walpole in the Trees Regatta 2016 over the Labour Day long weekend of the 5th and 6th March.

Now in its forty-fourth year, the event is already gaining momentum with over seventy sail boats and several hundred spectators anticipated over the two day racing event. Competitors travel from all over the state to enjoy the relaxed and laid back atmosphere of the regatta, to catch up with mates and sail around the beautiful Walpole and Nornalup Inlet Marine Park. Certainly one of the biggest sailing events outside the metropolitan areas!

Of the many highlights will be the return of the 2016 WA Moths State Titles with elite sailors on the international circuit gathering to contest the title.  The Regatta also welcomes back a variety of fleets and vessels to the competition, these include the: Tasar, Sabre, Laser, 125, 420, 470, Spiral, Windrush 12 and 14‚Äôs, Hobie 16, Sharpie, Cherub, cruiser/keel boats,  the popular but classic Mirror class dinghies and more.

Race Organisers will once more be led by internationally recognised Race Officer John Rosser and Ian Meiklejohn joined by Tim Hodgson take on the role as Handicapper and Race Results Officers, assisted by a crew of keen and experienced team members.

While enjoying a full programme of events and the experience of sailing across the inlet take time to also discover the local internationally acclaimed tourist destinations.  Those requiring accommodation should book early.
