Sabre class sailors are invited to sail with the host club’s fleet in Albert Sailing Club’s annual Inland Waters regatta which is being sailed on Albert Park Lake on Saturday 20th (pm) and Sunday 21st June (am and pm).

The regatta follows a short race series format with races of 30 to 45 minutes in three sessions starting at 1.45 pm on Saturday, then Sunday am and pm. Courses will be sailed in the northern half of the lake, and will generally be triangles or trapezoids depending on wind direction and conditions. At the start of May the water level in the lake is below its maximum, but is fine20for racing with centreboards raised a few centimetres. It is over two-thirds full, is improving with each burst of rain, and pumping has also recommenced to start topping up the lake.

Regatta documentation including Information Flyer, Notice of Race, Entry Form and Sailing Instructions are available on this link http://albertsc.org.au/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=299&Itemid=1. Albert Sailing Club has a large well-appointed clubhouse with full facilities for sailors and their support crews. A canteen will operate at lunchtime on both days of the regatta. Spectators are well provided for with close-up viewing of the racing available from the clubhouse and the northern shores of the lake.

This has been a popular regatta for over 25 years. It is part of Albert Sailing Club’s winter sailing season which commenced in early May and continues through each weekend until the end of September. Sabre sailors are most welcome to sail with the home club fleet and winter Sabre members in the Albert SC Winter Season. This can be either as a winter member or as a Visitor on an ad hoc basis once or twice per month. The Sabre Association has three Travellers Series races at Albert Sailing Club commencing on Saturday 27 June, the first week after the regatta. Full details of the winter program and arrangements are on these links http://albertsc.org.au/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=292&Itemid=2, and https://www.sabre.org.au/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1391.

The members of the Albert Sailing Club look forward to another successful Albert Sailing Club Inland Waters regatta, and will as always provide a warm welcome to visitors.
